Most side and rear tempered glass costs $200 to $450 fitted, and that price includes clearing every fragment out of the vehicle. The bay is ten minutes away along Atlantic, so a car that lost a window overnight is normally closed up and lockable again by mid-morning.

Back windows fail differently from side windows, and Jamaica produces both. A rear screen usually goes because something came off the road behind you, or because a tailgate was slammed on an obstruction, or because somebody wanted what was on the parcel shelf. A door pane almost always goes in one hit from outside. The repair path is similar but the electrical side is not, and that is where a rushed job shows itself.
On a back window we take out the remaining glass, clear the tailgate channel, the boot well and the seat backs, and fit a replacement carrying its own printed grid. The heating tabs and, where fitted, the antenna lead are connected and then tested by switching the system on and checking that the screen clears evenly. On door glass the priority is the shell: fragments in the run channel will score a new pane within days, so the cavity is vacuumed thoroughly, the regulator and lift arms are inspected, and the window is worked through its full travel before we call it done. Nothing has to set afterwards, so the vehicle leaves as soon as the interior is clean and the pane has been tested.

A lot of the rear glass we replace for Jamaica took its hit on the road rather than in a parking space. The Van Wyck and the truck routes around it throw stone in both directions, and while a windshield gets the credit for that, the back screen of a car in the next lane catches its share too. Meanwhile the residential blocks south of Linden Boulevard and the streets near the transit hub supply the break-in side of the ledger. The useful thing about the geography is that the response does not depend on which of those happened to you. Atlantic Avenue connects your neighborhood to our bay directly, without the stop-and-go of Jamaica Avenue through the shopping blocks, and it works just as well at two in the morning.
Same service, same price, other Queens neighborhoods:
On a comprehensive policy, road debris damage to any glass is normally treated the same way, whichever pane took the hit. We file the claim here as we would for a windshield. Whether it pays depends on your deductible against the cost of the screen, so we quote the job first and let you decide from real numbers.
Yes. A proper temporary cover fitted to the opening keeps rain and hands out and holds well enough for normal driving until the glass arrives. It is a stopgap and we will not describe it as anything else, but it is far better than plastic sheeting and it means the car does not have to sit unusable in a lot.
